The Federal Communications Commission recently passed a new privacy rule that prohibits Internet Service Providers from using and selling customer data to advertisers, without previous consent. Under the new ruling, customers can accept or decline the ability for ISPs to share personal information pulled from their activity online. The consent forms will likely be presented as privacy policies on the provider’s website.

ISPs will no longer be able to distribute:

  • Precise geo-location
  • Children’s information
  • Health information
  • Financial information
  • Social Security numbers
  • Web browsing history
  • App usage history
  • Content of communications

This ruling is valuable to AVX Digital because it strengthens Facebook and Google’s ability to produce targeted advertisements, which creates a better return on your social media marketing. The guidelines only apply to Internet Service Providers like Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T. The F.C.C. is not capable of intervening with other internet-based companies.

AVX Digital is a trusted source for Facebook and Google marketing. We are experts at interpreting data generated from these sites, and turning that data into ROI for our clients. Facebook and Google are incredible resources for launching paid social/search advertising campaigns. These platforms give us the ability to produce ad sets that target the ideal customer based on criteria such as location, income, interests, and job title. Our partners see large returns and increased visibility of their brand as a result of our paid social/search campaigns. Leaving no stone unturned, we then use these channels to increase their search engine ranking.
